Five Days of Success Stories

Over the next five days we will be sharing stories of what success for women means to members of our community. As a local nonprofit, some of our most valuable resources are the unique people who make this city great; we’d love for you join the conversation.

To kick off our five day conversation campaign, we’ll start with Lisa. Lisa is 28 years old, and we met her outside of J&J’s over the weekend – both of us thought that we looked like someone we knew, and through that series of double-takes, a great conversation happened.

We asked Lisa two questions: 1) What does success for women mean to you? and 2) Do you feel like women have the resources that they need in order to succeed in today’s job market? Check out what Lisa had to say, below!

Volunteers Needed for 2016 Committees

With 2016 off to a start, we’re implementing new committees for our first official year in operation. In order for us to fulfill our mission, we need the dedicated involvement of volunteers just like you. Check out what we’re looking for below:

Resource Development Committee Volunteers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Resource Development Committee to research and contact potential donors
  • Take initiatives to build relationships with potential donors, as well as members of the community
  • Establish an ongoing fundraising program to support the mission and carry out our programs, with support from the Program Director
  • Generate ideas for fundraising opportunities and outreach events
  • Able to meet once weekly for an in-person meeting, and to complete tasks off-site throughout the weekSpecific Skills:

Specific Skills:

  • Fundraising experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills, and an ability to be outspoken

Programs and Initiatives Team Volunteers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Program Director to understand the needs of each individual program
  • Assist in the volunteer recruiting process for open positions within each program and initiative
  • Help maintain ongoing success of each area of the program
  • Work with the Resource Development Committee to communicate current and ongoing needs for funds.
  • Able to meet once weekly for an in-person meeting, and to complete tasks off-site throughout the week

Specific Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, and an ability to be outspoken
  • Ability to effectively work in a team

Marketing Committee Members

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Marketing Committee to secure a media outlet base in Denton County
  • Write press releases, ongoing, to support efforts and initiatives in the organization
  • Contribute to social media postings, weekly.
  • Secure events and opportunities to spread the word about our organization’s mission
  • Develop ongoing marketing strategies to help promote our programs
  • Able to meet once weekly for an in-person meeting, and to complete tasks off-site throughout the week

Specific Skills:

  • Excellent written skills preferred
  • Strong communication skills, and an ability to be outspoken a plus
  • Ability to navigate social media platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
